Happy 17 months, Baby Girl!

Dear Dia,

You are now 17 months old! Part of me enjoys watching you learn things but part of me feels that you are growing up too soon..

One of the fastest things I think you have learned is learning how to speak properly. I think I have lost track of the words that you can say but lately we noticed that you occasionally combine 2 words together. Like when I came home from work a couple of days ago, you said 'Mummy, nenen'. and this morning when you saw Kaka Anis' slippers you said 'Anis, unya (punya)'..

We noticed that you have developed some 'pengerasi' attitude lately and throwing a tantrum when things don't go your way. And as a result of us trying to teach you , you have been crying a lot! I admit that you do get your way sometimes when you cry BUT we shall ignore it from now on.... You can't have it your way all the time.. It was funny a couple of nights ago your Daddy was angry at you, you cried a bucket and when you realised we were not going to give in, you went down from our bed, walked to the door and looked for your aunty.. hahaha Pandai behidup nya your nini girl.. haha

Ramadhan is here again my darling girl. This is one of Mummy's favorite months because many many things. One thing for sure mummy and daddy loves the variety of food available. so baby girl, be prepared for more Sungkai outings ok. Although there will be times when we may decide that you stay home so jangan nangis ok. Oh we also want to go for sahur dim sum, you think you are ok with going out at mid night my dear?

After Ramadhan comes Syawal and that's when we get to visit friends and family and vice versa. Get ready to be dressed up in pretty clothes, driving and visiting people and also pinched and kissed by others.. haha

Ok Mummy better get back to work now.. Have a good day my darling.. Mummy and Daddy loves you lots and lots and lots!

xoxo
Mummy

Maintaining supply

I think all Fasting, BFing moms are currently experiencing a dip in terms of EBM production. There has been some good days where I managed to express a total of 8oz from 6am - 2pm, and there has been days that I managed to express 6oz.. So in order to maintain/increase my production rate these are the items I eat/drink..

Once every 2 days, my mum/maid will cook some langgiroh/sasigan for me to eat.
It was funny how Anjai & I went around at the tamu asking how this veg looks like as we have both never seen it uncooked. So Gotta make a point to go to Tamu every Thursday to buy my supply. My mum use to grow these around the house dulu when I first had Nadia so maybe its about time I ask her to re-grow again.. hehehe

Because I have trouble swallowing those (massive) Fenugreek pills, I try on a daily basis to take this drink in. Taste wise, barely taste any fenugreek, mcm hot chocolate bah.. hehehe
For those who are interested it is sold at Mr. Baker's Bakery in Batu Bersurat, opposite the basket ball court.

This is something new that I just tried last night. I suppose instead of eating oats with milk it is easier to drink this Oat Milk. A friend of mine tried it and she swears that it helps her.. Oh and i take it with some cereal :)
It is sold in Supa Save and it has been out-of stock for the past 2 months kali. ani baru ada.. so I am planning to make my way to Supa Save and stock up on this babies!

(Please note that i do not get any commission whatsoever when promoting this product. Just information sharing for other BFing mums out there :P)

Other than that I make sure I Sahur and eat rice during Sahur.

On Dia's consumption side, we are all very grateful and happy that she is back to eating up all her meals and snacks (continuously according to my mum), she has been taking 4oz daily when I am away. So alhamdulillah, my stocks is now at 140oz.. hehe Of course this is nothing compared to some of my friends but I am happy with it and grateful for it :)

This is Dia a couple of nights ago, eating up a portion of our sahur! hehehe

I am also grateful for the support system I have around me. My husband who is always willing to buy items that will increase my BM, entertain the little girl while I express, etc. My mum and family, my friends and most especially other BFing friends who are always ready to answer my question or willing to share tips.. Syukur alhamdulillah.. and can't thank them enough..

Oh and this is what I cooked last night!

Buttermilk Chicken

now time to think of what I should cook for tonight.. :)

Close call

Salam all.. How has your day been? Mine has been quite eventful..

Just this morning as I was on my daily commute there was an accident just before Empire's entrance and as I was braking to a stop in Jerudong I saw that the three car behind me was still at a high speed.. So I had to honk in order to alert them. The car right behind me had to swerve to the left (thank god there was no car on my left) and the other 2 cars had to brake harshly. It left me shaken and am thankful that nothing bad happened. so peeps, drive extra careful oks..

so anyways here are some photos taken over the weekend.

Mummy: Dia!!!! Don't play with that!

Dia: Heeehehehehehee

Storage Love!

When I first started on my breastfeeding journey and started storing my EBMS, I stored it using Glad’s freezer bags. A friend of mine recommended using that as it was pretty cheap and has double zip lock.. It can be found at supermarkets or convenient stores and I usually stock up on those bags.. But as time pass by I found that those bags are sometimes sold out and it takes a while for the supermarkets or convenient stores to stock them up. So I began to explore on other bags to be used.

The second bag I used was First Years EBM bags which I bought from triple star, costing approx $18.90 for 25 pieces which works out to about $0.72 per bag.. Besides the fact that it was a bit pricy for me, I didn’t really like the material. Found it a bit flimsy…

The third bag used was introduced to me by a friend and its called Autumnz.. It’s a Malaysian product and I can’t remember exactly how much it cost me at that time but I think it was approx $0.50 per bag. Material was thick however it only has a single zip lock, at that time. Considering it was cheap I was happy to continue on using it, just making sure I store my EBMs standing up and not lying flat. When we placed our 3rd batch of orders my friend noticed that the bags has a strong chemical smell.. SO we had no choice but to put forward a complain and look for other bags..

The fourth bag used was given to me by a friend. Its Lansinoh and this my friends is one of the best I have used so far and one of my favorites. I use them when I travel and I love that it says ‘my mommy’s milk’ on the bag! Hahaha Price wise it cost around $36 for a box of 50 in Mothercare which works out to approx $0.73 per bag.. a tad too pricy.. So have been looking for options to bring it to Brunei but shipping cost turns me off!

At this point I was spending quite a few bucks on EBM bags then my friend who introduced the Autumnz bag called me and told me that Autumnz is sending her a new batch of EBM bags.. I have been using them for a couple of days now and gotta tell u, I like it! The material remains thick compared to Lansinoh and First Years and it now has double zip lock!!! And a box of 25 pcs cost me $8.00 (including shipping) which works to about $0.30 per bag.. I know 30cents per bag sounds sikit but if you use 3 bags per day, 5 days per week for 30 days, that works out to $13.50!! (Yes I am stingy like that!! :P)

So am now a happy bunny and pray that Autumnz will keep up their quality and supply.. Am talking to some friends on possibility of bringing these bags into Brunei.. Would any of you be interested? Let me know.. you can leave a msg on the tag board or email me at nynani@gmail.com :)

On another note, Reading other mother’s blogs on how they store their EBM, I read that there is a product (at time of writing is still googling and trying to find out what its called) that allows you to store your EBM into 1oz cubes.. Kira mcm buat ice lah.. Once its frozen you can just place it in sip lock bags or containers and when its time to feed, you can take how many cubes you need and thaw them.. This has some nice merits for me but I suppose it will require better organization skills in terms of keeping track which cube came from which batch. And should there be power outage and EBM melts, you will have to re-freeze it all again.. This is an option that I would like to explore come the next child *tee hee*

Happy berpuasa y'all!
